Five New Way to Use Your doppel
Pinned FeaturedHello, doppelgängers,
We hope you are doing as well as can be during the uncertainty of a pandemic. So much of our lives have changed and been disrupted, and as we’re all experiencing these changes together it's a chance to share and connect.
If we’re to take a moment to review the positives of the current crisis, it has provided us with the opportunity to slow down and reset and has forced us to appreciate the things we may have taken for granted. However, it can be hard to enjoy these positives when our fear and anxiety have reached a new peak.
It's ok to feel anxious or scared right now, you're emotions are valid and there is no judgment here.
We know that many enjoy of you enjoy the benefits of doppel within your normal routines, but today we’ve listed some new ways that doppel can help you during this time
Our first suggestion...
1. Anxiety relief for the overwhelm of socializing from afar
Even though we’re social distancing physically, many of us are making a great effort to connect with people over the phone and we strongly advocate this. As a team, we’ve decided to have daily group video calls to keep morale high and connection prevalent.
However, as more of our family and friends have the same idea, out of fear of feeling too socially isolated, you might find yourself experiencing more social interactions than you’re normally used to. For some of us, this may be welcomed and for others, this may feel draining and even daunting.
If you do feel overwhelmed or are experiencing a new kind of social anxiety due to the sudden influx of FaceTime calls try using your doppel to help and consider politely setting boundaries with family and friends. If you consider yourself an introvert it's ok to let your loved ones know that you still feel this way even during self-isolation.
2. A boost of energy without caffeine
If you are working from home, we hope your lack of commute is giving you a few extra minutes of snooze time. Although, with a lot more on our minds the extra minutes in bed might not be compensating for the overall quality of our sleep, and many of us are still reaching for the coffee.
Coffee isn’t all bad, a lot of us here at doppel love it too, but overconsumption can increase blood pressure, anxiety and “jitteriness” which are all things we could do a little less off during this time. If your calm rhythm usually takes priority in your routine consider giving your focus or energize rhythm a try, a lot of our doppelgängers report how doppel really helps them wake up in the morning.
And hey, skipping your morning coffee every so often will give you a chance to save your supplies, so that’s one thing off the shopping list.
3. Keeping calm during the grocery store run
If you suffer from anxiety then it’s already not uncommon for a panic attack to arise in what other people might deem as an unlikely situation. However now with lockdowns enforced and the amount of people panic buying, shopping at the grocery store has become an entirely anxiety-inducing task, that everyone can relate to. Large crowds and the sight of the empty shelves makes the reality of the situation even scarier.
Taking your doppel along to do your weekly shop may have not been top of the list before, but it’s a useful tool to reach for to help keep anxiety at bay.
And if hitting the big supermarkets feels too overwhelming altogether, why not try a healthy food subscription service or deliveries from smaller independent bakers and grocers, some local coffee shops are even delivering oat milk and lunchtime sandwiches.
4.Consuming the news
We all want to be informed and there’s no escaping the conversation of this pandemic. On our Instagram, we posted some ways to not drive yourself insane during a lockdown and limiting news consumption was one of them. We all need to be informed but we do not need to be inundated. When you are checking the updates about COVID-19 make sure that it is from reputable sources and give yourself a routine for checking them, perhaps one or two set times in the day to check the most relevant and reliable headlines.
Before you do check, in with the latest news try wearing your doppel, so that you can consume the news with a clear mind and feeling a little calmer.
5.Working from home
Some people are suited to working from home, enjoying home comforts, the quiet and the elimination of the commute, whilst others find it boring, lonely and hard to focus. If you can relate to the later then making use of your doppel’s focus can be a really great way to help you setting we suggest working from different rooms and areas of your house as much as you can.
A change of location can help you to get past some of the unproductive habits you’ve slipped into in your usual workplace. In a widely cited study from 2005, researchers discovered that students who transferred to another college were more likely to change their daily habits than students who remained at the same place.
We’ve blogged before about how taking a break is one of the best ways to be more productive, according to scientific studies.
